Lil Wayne performed at Montreal's Metro Metro Festival on Friday, but due to the rapper arriving late, his set only lasted 15 minutes. He was scheduled to go on at 10 p.m., however, he arrived at 10:45 p.m. Fans chanted "Weezy" as the performance came to a close. The festival later responded to the incident, simply writing, "We apologize for Lil Wayne's abbreviated performance. He arrived at the festival at 10:45 and curfew is at 11." Lil Wayne headlined the first day of the festival, and the following days saw headlining sets from Jack Harlow and Lil Baby.
A similar incident occurred in April, when Lil Wayne performed a 30-minute set at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. The final Welcome to Tha Carter Tour performance was cut short due to the rapper feeling as though the crowd wasn't giving him what he deserved. He told his audience, "We appreciate it, but we ain’t about to be bending over backwards for these folks.” Lil Wayne continued, closing the show with, "We work too hard for this shit, we work way too hard. This my motherf***in’ artist Allan, that was Twist, that was Yaj; we are Young Money. We appreciate y’all time."

Charlamagne Tha God later spoke on the April incident on The Breakfast Club podcast. He called the move "corny," adding, "You can’t be upset because the crowd not feeling your artist." Charlamagne also explained, "I’m sure Wayne has been there before. I’m sure that the was a time he might’ve brought, even a Drake out way way way back in the day and people weren’t paying attention to Drake. Or he might’ve brought a Nicki out way way way back in the day and people weren’t paying attention to Nicki. Or Tyga. All of these people who ended up blowing up. Everybody starts somewhere.”
At the same April performance, Lil Wayne also told his audience, “I am the realest motherf***er in the game right now." He added, “Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t give a f**k what you think you’re looking at, but you are looking at the best rapper alive.”
